CONTEXT
Bandcamp is a digital music distribution service and platform where artists thrive through the direct support of their fans. Most of their audience are independent artists or niche communities from all genres, backgrounds and countries. They defy music streaming conventions through its people-first approach, with a radical approach in music retailing and unprecedented activism.

CONCEPT
This new identity focuses on giving Bandcamp a distinct personality to reflect its independent roots, elevating the brand and increasing its accessibility. The new look is inspired by underground publications and DIY culture.

LOGO
The logo represents the creativity and individuality of Bandcamp’s users. The ink traps and imperfect edges of the font references letterpress printing. It brings a sense of do-it-yourself attitude and being in touch with your craft to the digital space, evoking ideas of independent thought, underground subcultures and art-making. The animations expand on that through its choppy, mismatched, punk-esque nature.
